Teacher Feature: Bryan Jurgenson, Guitar Instructor
Bryan Jurgenson is one of our most enthusiastic and encouraging instructors. Bryan has been a songwriter for over 17 years and playing guitar for 20 years. He enjoys writing and playing his own music both professionally and for his own self-therapy. The passion he has for the enjoyment of his instrument is exhuded in his enjoyment for teaching.
Bryan has performed and studied many different genres of music including: ska, punk, reggae, surf, classic rock, and coffee house music for open mic nights. In addition to his music studies at Cal State Fullerton, most of Bryan’s experience stems from being self taught. He has certainly picked up a thing or two from other performance musicians, but he stresses the importance of practice time and effort. He truly believes and is a prime example of how extra time and commitment to your instrument can take a musician to the next level.
Bryan enthusiasm for teaching is best exemplified by his students’ progression, “passing along the gift of musical ability is very humbling…” He enjoys working through the challenges of learning with his students and being able to share the feeling of achievement and confidence that working through those challenges can bring. Bryan looks forward to working with many more students over the years and sharing his love of music.
“Music is such a great language and really is so much more than just notes and rhythms.”
