Teacher Feature: Lerieze Araneta, Vocal and Piano Instructor
The Music Abode is excited to welcome teacher Lerieze Araneta to our team!
Lerieze is in her last year at Cal State Fullerton studying music with an emphasis in Vocal Performance, and is in one of the top choirs there! While she finishes her degree, Lerieze is focusing on building her teaching roster and continuing to grow as a musician. Her vast volunteer experience has helped her become a generous and dedicated teacher, and her schedule is sure to fill up fast!
She began taking piano lessons as a young child at the request of her mother, and learned all the basics of music, but wasn’t all that interested in being disciplined yet. However, she stuck with it while she was involved in music and worship at her previous church. She spent 20 years there nurturing her talent with different mentors. She started off in the children’s choir, played several roles in the musicals there, and then moved on to the youth worship team. From there, she started to develop a real passion for music and an ownership of her talent. She used that passion to lead worship and play keyboards on Sunday mornings with the main team at her church. Her community there speaks very highly of her and speaks of her talent as well as her heart for others, saying that that kind of care and attention cannot be taught.
What is really wonderful about Lerieze is her joy of music. From the moment she enters a room, her passion for music comes through in a way that is inspiring and fun. This kind of joy speaks to the caliber of her as a teacher, and she knows how important a good teacher is. Her own teacher has helped her a great deal in helping her find her unique voice and opening up. Lerieze strives to be the teacher that a student needs and help them to find their own sound and passion.
Though she is studying classical music, she very much enjoys singing jazz, musical theatre, contemporary, and much more! Someday she’d love to work with Disney, be involved in musical scoring for movies, and eventually tour with a singing group or worship team.
Lerieze’s words of wisdom for her students: Love your sound. There’s no one in this world that can replicate you, so own it. You were born with a unique song, sing it!
“Music expresses that which cannot be put into words and that which cannot remain silent.” – Victor Hugo
