Teacher Feature: Valentina Bocca, Vocal Instructor
We are very fortunate to have a musician dedicated to her craft such as Valentina Bocca join our teaching team. Valentina introduced herself with a repertoire list of a musician many years her senior. She has always been a singer with “raw talent” but became interested in studying vocal technique in high school.
Valentina will be completing her AA in Music from Fullerton College this semester with the Applied Arts program which is considered to be one of the most strongest and rigorous programs in the state, and will continue toward also receiving her Bachelor degree. In addition to being a member of the Fullerton College Concert Choir, Valentina has been studying with Dr. Kristin Chaudhary specializing in German and Spanish literature.
Her repertoire includes numerous works by Bach, Bellini, Brahms, Caldara,Chabrier, Debussy, Duke, Faure, Granados, Handel, Mozart, Nin, and Schubert.
She has also recently started studying and singing within a Jazz ensemble Synergy.
Valentina’s love for singing and music has given her the desire to share her enthusiasm. She has volunteered with various local churches including Sojourner/Puente de Gracia Community Church teaching individual and group vocal lessons, creating music activities, play writing, planning and organizing music performances, teaching fundamentals of music theory for singing and guitar. She also currently organizes and coordinates after school music and arts programs as a community service specialist for the City of Fullerton.
Valentina strongly believes and wishes for her students “to work hard for what you love, even if you don’t see immediate results. Appreciate and enjoy the journey because that is where music thrives.”
