Teacher Feature: Vivian Lawrence, Piano and Music Production Instructor
Teacher Vivian Lawrence brings a very unique and exciting quality to our teaching team. Not only has Mr. Lawrence been classically trained with his BA in Music from Eastern University in PA, but he also has experience with music production and sound engineering in Nashville.
Mr. Lawrence has been teaching piano and keyboards for over 5 years. His foundation is in classical music, but also later became interested in Jazz, improvisation, and contemporary styles and is able to teach multiple genres. He is especially interested in being creative with music structure and taking basic songs to another level using music theory fundamentals.
With his comprehensive piano background, Mr. Lawrence is one of few music producers that has the ability to electronically compose and manipulate sounds in a unique formulaic way. Once introduced to music software programs used in music production, Mr. Lawrence immediately immersed himself in that culture with a study away program at the contemporary Music Center in Nashville. He also studied with Grammy Award winning producer Glen Barrett in the studio with equipment and tracking rooms.
Some of Mr. Lawrence’s awards include: the Janice Stead Memorial Award from Eastern University, Chorister’s Guild Scholarship, Best Keyboard player regional and national Yamaha Asian Beats Music Competition, Best keyboard player twice by Delhi Public School, and was the youngest pupil to received grade VIII in Piano through the Trinity College London at 16.
